OpenAI has released its first open-weight model in six years called GPT-OSS, available in two versions: 120 billion-parameter and 20 billion-parameter variants. The model can be downloaded for free, customized, run on a laptop, and is compatible with platforms like Hugging Face, Databricks, Azure, and AWS under the Apache 2.0 license which gives broad modification rights for commercial use.
