Bun, an MIT-licensed open-source software, has been acquired by Anthropic, which plans to use Bun as the infrastructure for AI coding tools including Claude Code and Claude Agent SDK. With the acquisition, Bun will be improved and made better suited for future AI coding tools, yet will still be built publicly on Github with an ongoing emphasis on high-performance JavaScript tooling, while the existing team will continue to work on it.
